DCT AI Assistant
The DCT AI Assistant is a chat-based interface for performing Data Control Tower operations using natural language.
Availability
The assistant is available in preview from DCT pages beyond Synthetic Data. Open the assistant from the AI Assistant control on a DCT page. Availability may be subject to further enablement requirements as this preview finalizes; if you do not see the assistant on a given page, contact your administrator to confirm the rollout status for your environment.
Requires the AI Services runtime to be enabled and an AI provider assigned. See Enabling AI Services and Configuring AI providers and features.
Credential handling
The assistant uses ephemeral, per-request credential capture for operations that require a database or connector credential (for example, provisioning a VDB):
-
When an operation needs a credential, the assistant prompts for it using a masked input field rendered outside the chat transcript.
-
The value is captured out-of-band: it is never sent to the AI provider and never included in the chat history or model context.
-
The value is injected directly into the operation at execution time and discarded immediately afterward. DCT does not persist the credential in any credential store.
-
Each credential must be supplied fresh for each operation that needs it; there is no option to save or reference a credential by name.
Confirmation for destructive operations
Operations that delete, destroy, or otherwise irreversibly change data require explicit confirmation before they run. The exact confirmation UX is still being finalized for this preview; refer to the in-product experience for the current confirmation flow.
