Create a discovery job for files

Use this task to create a discovery job for file-based data. A discovery job analyzes your files and assigns appropriate masking algorithms to fields based on patterns and data characteristics.

Prerequisites

• You have created a rule set for your file data. See Create a rule set for flat data files or Create a rule set for semi-structured files.

Steps

1. Go to Compliance > Compliance Jobs.

2. Click + Compliance Job.

3. In the What would you like to do? dialog, select Discover data and click Continue.

4. Select your rule set and click Next.

5. Select a discovery policy from the dropdown and click Next.

   The policy determines which algorithms are assigned to fields based on data patterns.

6. Review the job summary and click Submit.

   The discovery job is created and ready to run.

7. Click Run to execute the discovery job.

   The system analyzes your file data and assigns algorithms to each field. You can monitor progress on the Execution page.

8. After the job completes, click View Results to see the discovered algorithms for each field.
