Edit a generator

Editing a generator allows you to update its name, description, locale, industry, configuration, and classification settings. The Edit Generator wizard follows the same steps as creating a generator, with existing values pre-populated in each field.

Use this task to modify an existing generator in Synthetic Data.

Steps

  1. From the top navigation bar, click Synthetic, then click Generators in the left navigation pane.

  2. Locate the generator you want to edit, then click View in the Actions column to open the generator details page.

  3. Click Edit in the upper-right corner. The Edit Generator wizard opens with the existing generator configuration pre-populated.

  4. On the Details page, update any of the following as needed:

    1. Name: Modify the name of the generator.

    2. Description (optional): Update or add a free-text description.

    3. Locale (optional): Select a locale from the dropdown.

    4. Industry (optional): Select an industry from the dropdown.

    5. Tags (optional): Add, update, or remove key-value tags for the generator.

For Multi Data generators, the Basic Information locale/industry values influence assignment eligibility and default behavior. Locale-sensitive Multi Data methods can also define a per-field locale in Configuration.

  5. On the Configuration page, update the generator configuration settings as needed.

The available fields and options depend on the selected generator framework. Configure the settings for the framework you selected. For framework-specific details, see Generator frameworks and the topic for the selected framework.

  6. On the Classification page, update the classification settings as needed.

  7. On the Summary page, review the updated generator configuration.

    1. To make further changes, click Back.

    2. To save the changes, click Submit.

The generator configuration is updated and saved. The changes take effect the next time the generator is used.
