YugabyteDB data sources
Overview
The Delphix YugabyteDB virtualization solution consists of the Delphix Continuous Data Engine and the Connector for YugabyteDB, which must be uploaded and installed into the Engine. This solution ingests source data using a staging architecture, which logically replicates the production YugabyteDB database from the source environment into a staging environment. The Delphix Continuous Data Engine captures the persistent storage layer of the staging database, enabling the creation of virtualized copies in target environments for development, testing, or analytics purposes.
The YugabyteDB connector supports both staging pull and staging push mechanisms for data ingestion. The following ingestion methods are supported:
Staging Pull
This ingestion method allows Delphix to execute the necessary operations to prepare the data content in the staging environment. Staging pull supports the following ingestion mechanisms:
-
REST-based backup orchestration via YBA
-
Full backup support
-
Multi-node universe restore into the staging environment
Staging Push
This ingestion method allows users to design and execute custom ingestion workflows, transferring and preparing YugabyteDB data in the staging environment according to organizational or infrastructure requirements.
Limitations of the YugabyteDB Solution
The Delphix Continuous Data Engine and the YugabyteDB connector should not be considered a replacement for the backup and recovery of your source instances and databases. The Delphix Continuous Data Engine solution is intended for different purposes, primarily to create non-production database copies.
Yugabyte Anywhere will not allow provisioning of a single YugabyteDB vDB filesystem into a pre-existing YugabyteDB cluster. The Delphix solution must create a new YugabyteDB instance and vDB on the target Environment with its own unique HTTP port.
Support
The YugabyteDB connector is licensed under the standard Delphix License Agreement. The solution is supported by Delphix Technical Support. For assistance, bug reports, or feature requests, please use the Delphix Support or Delphix Community portals.
