Microsoft SQL Server on Linux data sources
The Delphix Microsoft SQL Server on Linux (MSSQL Linux) plugin can virtualize a single instance MSSQL on Linux database and create multiple virtual copies as required.
Creation of the dSource requires a user-provided full backup of the source database(s) that can be kept in-sync with the MSSQL Linux source databases using differential or transactional log backups.
User Provided Backup
The user supplies Delphix with an existing full backup, along with differential and transactional backups. For more information about backup types, please refer to Microsoft documentation.
Delphix uses the full backup to initialize the staging database and sets it up as the source database.
To keep the data in the staging database synchronized with the source, Delphix applies differential backups.
The Delphix MSSQL Databasedata virtualization solution employs a Staging Architecture Model. Within this framework, the source (or production) database is ingested into Delphix Continuous Data through a dedicated staging environment. This ingested copy is subsequently denoted as a dSource. This dSource enables the creation and updates of virtual copies of MSSQL Database within the target environment.
MSSQL Linux plugin has been developed to ingest data from native backups of source databases and virtualize MSSQL Linux data sources using Delphix.
