Licensing

Data Control Tower has three license tiers that determine what functions and use-cases are enabled through the DCT UI or via API calls. Those tiers are Core, Self Service, and Enterprise. Each tier is described in detail below.

DCT Core

Available to any customer with an active Continuous Data or Compliance license. This tier provides an entry-level experience aimed at smaller Delphix deployments or new users looking to explore DCT’s capabilities. This tier includes complete parity with the standard engine model, in addition to various improvements such as a supported CLI toolkit and centralized license usage and storage reports.

DCT for Self Service

Intended for Continuous Data-focused organizations that emphasize empowering developers and testing workflows. This tier delivers all DCT Core features, advanced self-service features (like bookmarking and locking), and selected DevOps integrations to shift left and enhance productivity.

DCT Enterprise

The full-featured, premium tier is designed for large, complex Delphix deployments that require comprehensive data management capabilities. This tier includes the entire suite of DCT features, supporting multi-engine workflows, deeper reporting, and (optional) AI-enhanced capabilities.

Features

The table below shows which features are available for each license tier.

Feature Description Core Self Service Enterprise
Number of allowed engines connected

For registering Data, Compliance, Hyperscale, Elastic Data, and Vault Engines onto DCT.

Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
User interface A converged, updated UI to govern all workflows across all Delphix Engines. Y Y Y
Core CD capabilities Functional parity for all operations in Continuous Data, like Create Environment, Link dSource, Create Snapshot, Provision, Refresh, Policies, Hooks, etc. Y Y Y
Core CC capabilities Functional parity for operations in Continuous Compliance, like configure and run Profile and Masking Jobs. (Feature preview available today)
Global access control DCT's access control system is a granular role and attribute-based system for governing all data/objects within the DCT's connected ecosystem. This coincides with DCT providing the single interface (API, CLI, UI) for all of Delphix. Y Y Y
Tags DCT's business metadata system allows any number of key/value pairs to be associated with any object in DCT. Tags are critical for powering attribute-based access control, as well as enabling advanced tag-based filtering for reporting/administration. Y Y Y
Central operations log Maintain a log of all operations initiated by DCT. This satisfies multiple use cases, including a current running jobs view for end users, to an operations audit log for administrators. Y Y Y
Replication DCT provides the ability to create and manage replication profiles between engines for disaster recovery, selective data distribution, and ransomware use cases. This functionality also has historical logging and monitoring capabilities for central reporting of all replication activity. Y Y Y
Basic Self-Service capabilities Functionality for Self-Service operations like Refresh, Rewind, Change Timeflow, Timeline History View, etc. Y Y Y
Advanced Self-Service Advanced Self-Service operations include Bookmarks, VDB Groups, and VDB Lock. N Y Y
Compliance job collections Compliance job collections provide the ability to group compliance jobs together that relate to the same database or file, and to set an execution order for serial and/or parallel running jobs. N N Y
Data At Risk report and Automated Reports A high-level governance report that identifies whether a database has sensitive data and if that database has been masked. Schedule daily emails with the latest report. N N Y
DCT-specific insights Net new reports to Delphix, such as the storage savings, compliance job executions, and activity audit reports, among others. N N Y

Integrations

The table below shows which DevOps integrations are available for each license tier.

Integration Description Core Self Service Enterprise
REST APIs The entire suite of supported DCT REST APIs is provided via the Swagger API interface. Y Y Y
DCT toolkit access The productized successor to the dxtoolkit and dxmtoolkits, providing the ability to run DCT operations from a command line. Y Y Y
Terraform Integrate Delphix resources into Terraform templates for linking and provisioning data into ephemeral infrastructure. N Y Y
ServiceNow Integrate Delphix operations into ServiceNow flows from the Delphix "action" catalog. N Y Y
Jenkins Integrate Delphix operations into Jenkins pipelines. N Y Y
Kubernetes Provision, manage, and bookmark containerized, virtualized databases using K8s Operators. N Y Y
MCP Server Enables users and AI models to access and manage the datasets and metadata within their Delphix Platform. (Feature preview available today) N N Y

Please note, before DCT version 2025.6, DCT Enterprise was the only tier that allowed unlimited engine connections. This restriction has been removed from all tiers.

Changing license tiers

All DCT installations will default to the Core license tier, but modifying this is made simple from the UI.

To change or update your DCT license tier, navigate to the Admin tab, then select the License section on the left side. This UI will show your current license usage (if enabled) and the current license tier. Select Change to move between the DCT license tiers.

You can always upgrade or downgrade your license from the UI screen mentioned above. Upgrading is always possible if a higher version is available, or vice versa.
