Add and delete groups
Action required: The Continuous Data UI, API, and CLI are scheduled for end of life. Review the latest migration guidance and start planning your transition to Data Control Tower.
On new engine installations of 2026.5.0.0 and later, the Admin UI opens directly to the Performance Dashboard, and the Manage, Resources, and System menus are unavailable. Engines upgraded from an earlier version keep full Admin UI access. This restriction cannot be changed by customers; contact Delphix Support if you need it lifted temporarily.

This topic describes how to add and delete groups within the Delphix Domain.
admin instead of delphix_admin. Engines created before 5.3.1 and upgraded to 5.3.1 or newer retain the old username delphix_admin. To avoid complications, we recommend you create users with an admin role and disable delphix_admin. If your Delphix Engine is a new engine, log in as admin and ssh admin@yourengine. Add groups
-
Log into the Delphix Management application.
-
From the Manage menu, select Datasets.
-
Select the plus icon and then select Add Dataset Group.
-
Enter a Group Name and an optional description.
-
Click Add.
At least one group must always exist on the Delphix Engine in order to link a dSource. If you delete the last group, you will need to create a new group in order to create a dSource.
Delete groups
-
Log into the Delphix Management application as a user with Engine Admin privileges or group OWNER privileges for the target group.
-
From the Datasets panel, select the target group.
-
Click the Trash Can icon.
-
Click Delete.
A group cannot be deleted if it contains VDBs or dSources. All databases within a group must be deleted prior to deleting the group.
